Childcare Financial Assistance Information

Washington State offers different types of financial assistance for childcare depending on your income or current situation. Some child care providers may offer sliding scale fees, and the Working Connections subsidy program may be an option for families with low incomes. There are also programs for emergencies that might arise, and programs to help if you are experiencing homelessness. Learn more about these programs at Child Care Aware or read the brief descriptions below.

Working Connections Child Care Program

Depending on your income, you may qualify for assistance to access quality, licensed child care at a greatly reduced rate. Visit  the Department of Children Youth and Families (DCYF) for eligibility requirements and application process. You may apply directly by calling 1-844-626-8687.

Emergency Child Care Voucher Program

If you are facing a medical emergency, loss of wages, or an unexpected hardship, job training and/or are at risk of losing child care, you may be eligible to receive short-term child care tuition assistance. Whatcom/Skagit Counties only. For application information, call (360) 734-8396 ext. 1119 or see the flyer HERE
